The Har Ki Dun Trek is a breathtaking journey through the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, and cultural significance. Situated in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, this moderate-level trek takes around 7-8 days and reaches a maximum altitude of 3,566 meters (11,700 feet). It is accessible from Sankri, the base village, and is best visited between April–June and September–December. The trail winds through dense pine forests, alpine meadows, glacial rivers, and charming Himalayan villages like Osla and Seema, offering spectacular views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. Har Ki Dun is steeped in mythology, believed to be the path taken by the Pandavas to heaven. The trek also offers a glimpse of rare Himalayan wildlife, including the Himalayan black bear and musk deer. Ideal for both beginners and experienced trekkers, it provides a perfect blend of adventure, nature, and cultural immersion.

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri

  • Morning: Depart from Dehradun to Sankri, a scenic drive of approximately 200 km (7-8 hours).
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Sankri at an altitude of 6,400 feet. Check into a guesthouse or camp.
  • Evening: Attend a trek briefing session, have tea and snacks, and enjoy dinner.

Day 2: Sankri to Seema via Taluka

  • Morning: Drive from Sankri to Taluka (12 km) and start trekking to Seema (13 km, 5-6 hours).
  • Afternoon: Reach Seema, have lunch, and set up camp.
  • Evening: Explore the surroundings and enjoy a warm dinner.

Day 3: Seema to Seematra

  • Morning: Trek from Seema to Seematra (7 km, 4-5 hours).
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Seematra, enjoy lunch, and rest.
  • Evening: Relax at the campsite and have dinner.

Day 4: Seematra to Har Ki Dun Summit and Back to Seematra

  • Early Morning: Start the trek to Har Ki Dun Summit (11,675 ft, 5 km, 3-4 hours).
  • Mid-Morning: Enjoy panoramic views from the summit and capture memories.
  • Afternoon: Descend back to Seematra, have lunch, and rest.
  • Evening: Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at Sumatra.

Day 5: Seematra to Seema

  • Morning: Trek back from Seematra to Seema (7 km, 4-5 hours).
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Seema, have lunch, and relax.
  • Evening: Enjoy dinner and prepare for the next day’s journey.

Day 6: Seema to Sankri

  • Morning: Trek to Taluka (13 km, 5-6 hours) and drive back to Sankri.
  • Afternoon: Reach Sankri, have lunch, and unwind.
  • Evening: Participate in the closing ceremony, receive trek certificates, and enjoy a celebratory dinner.

Day 7: Sankri to Dehradun

  • Morning: Depart from Sankri to Dehradun (200 km, 7-8 hours drive).
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Dehradun and conclude your Har Ki Dun Trek adventure.

Inclusions

  • Accommodation during the trek (camping/homestays) on twin/triple sharing basis.
  • All meals during the trek (breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, dinner – veg only).
  • Transportation from Dehradun to Sankri and return (as per package).
  • Experienced and certified trek guides, support staff, and porters.
  • Forest permits and entry fees.
  • Basic first aid medical kit.
  • Trekking equipment: sleeping bags, mats, tents, and kitchen gear.

Exclusions

  • Transportation from your hometown to Dehradun and back.
  • Personal expenses such as laundry, phone calls, internet, camera charges, etc.
  • Any kind of insurance (personal, medical, travel).
  • Any extra accommodation/food outside the trek itinerary.
  • Costs arising due to natural calamities, delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Mule/porter charges to carry personal luggage (can be arranged at extra cost).
  • This trek requires a moderate level of fitness; prior trekking experience is recommended but not mandatory.
  • Carry a valid government ID.
  • Alcohol, drugs, and smoking during the trek are strictly prohibited.
  • Respect local culture and avoid littering; practice sustainable trekking.
  • Weather conditions may affect the itinerary. Flexibility is advised.
  • Please inform the organizers of any pre-existing medical conditions before the trek.
  • Personal responsibility for belongings and high-value items.
Payment Policy
  • 50% of the total amount to be paid at the time of booking.
  • Remaining 50% to be paid at least 7 days before the trek starts.
  • Payments can be made via bank transfer, UPI, or online payment gateways.
Cancellation / Refund Policy
  • Cancellation 30+ days before trek: 90% refund
  • Cancellation 15-30 days before trek: 50% refund
  • Cancellation 7-14 days before trek: 25% refund
  • Cancellation less than 7 days before trek: No refund
  • In case of natural disasters or government restrictions, an alternate trek/date will be offered. No cash refund in such cases.
